The first 5-year-ecological program of Holcim (Bulgaria) AD has finished. It aimed at reducing the harmful impact and putting the production in compliance with the environmental law.
The program has been started in 1998 and it covered a range of projects aiming at improvement of the ecological situation in the region.
recultivation of asbestos waste depots
demolition of old equipment and buildings
recultivation of plant area
entire substitution of the main treatment installations
starting a system for continuous dust and gas emissions monitoring (CEM)
new baghouse filter dedusting the kiln complex
Ongoing and future projects:
recultivation of northern plant area
waste water treatment project
AFR implementation (tires, refinery sludge)

MAIN TARGET:
To continuously improve our environmental performance and to provide positive contribution to our business Holcim (Bulgaria) AD recognizes its responsibilities to the environment and health of the public and is committed to maintaining and developing an ISO 14001 certified environmental management system. The strategic significance of this policy derives from the ambition to achieve excellent operating performance in an environmentally responsible and caring manner based on the following guiding principles:- Continuously improvement of environmental performance through reducing the emissions to air, soil and water and minimizing the generation of waste.- Encourage the conservation of natural resources and the use of alternative fuels and materials through utilization of waste from other industries.- Minimize and where practicable, prevent environmental pollution trough adopting control measures and environmental targets and programs integrated into the business strategy of the company, including use of best available techniques, where practicable and economically viable.- Seek to reuse and recycle generated waste; recover energy where possible, and dispose safely of residual waste.- Continuous monitoring and measurement of the key aspect of processes and activities that nave a significant environmental impact.- A commitment to comply with legal and other environmental regulations, e.g. voluntary or contractual agreements, which apply to activities, products and services.- Educate employees to the highest standards of environmental responsibility; promote their awareness of environmental issues and conduct regular assessments and audits.- Work in cooperation with controlling bodies, local authorities, the general public and all other stakeholders in seeking solutions to environmental issues.Implementing this policy is a primary strategic objective.
