Activities
Internal experts came together in a regional team to identify synergies and select best approaches for replication, as well as establish cross-company auditing for continual improvement. The team also agreed to extend the scope of the audit beyond ISO certification to include an external evaluation of each operation’s environmental performance. This ensured the initiative’s ongoing sustainability by providing more detailed guidance of operational performance and improvement opportunities.

Results
With only 18 months from project kick-off to finalization, and two months ahead of the end-2004 implementation deadline, all certifications were complete, thanks to the sharing of knowledge and best practices between all companies. The learning experience has strengthened relationships and networks, auguring well for future joint initiatives.
