SAM “sector leader” and “gold class” rankings
Print
Holcim was recognized at the 2008 World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting in Davos for excellent performance in Sustainability. The Sustainable Asset Management Group (SAM), the well respected independent asset management company that compiles the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), ranked Holcim as "a gold class sector leader" in their Sustainability Yearbook 2008, launched during the WEF in January.

The ranking stems from Holcim’s participation in the assessment for the DJSI and only the top 15% of companies in each of the 57 sectors assessed by SAM are included in the yearbook. A "Sector Leader" is the single company that has been identified as being best positioned to benefit from the opportunities and manage the risks associated with the economic, environmental and social developments in its sector. A sector leader only qualifies as "Gold Class" if it achieves an overall score of over 75% in the assessment.

Holcim was selected as sector leader out of the 13 global companies assessed in the Building Materials & Fixtures sector.
