Swiss national, born in 1955, member of the Board of Directors, elected until 2011. He holds a degree in mechanical engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (1981) and an MBA from the University of Chicago (1983). Joining Mettler-Toledo International Inc. in 1983, he was the company's CEO from 1993 through 2007, was nominated Chairman of the Board in 1998 and Executive Chairman in 2008. He is also a Board member of Conzzeta Holding AG, Schaffner Holding AG and Sonova Holding AG. He was elected to the Board of Directors of Holcim Ltd in 2008.
