Holcim Beton books another mass concrete pouring record
May 15, 2007

PT Holcim Indonesia Tbk (Holcim Indonesia) booked another historic record in the construction industry in Indonesia, through its subsidiary company PT Holcim Beton (PTHB), by concluding a mass concrete foundation pour of 9,070 m3 for Bakrie Tower Project with PT Hutama Karaya (Persero) today. It is the second largest mass concrete pour for PTHB and the third historic record in the Indonesian construction industry for this type of construction. PTHB previously successfully completed a mass concrete foundation pour 10,000 m3 for the Apartment Bellagio Project, an exclusive apartment project in Mega Kuningan business district.

As one of the noted ready-mix concrete (RMX) suppliers in the construction industry and with local and international experience, PTHB has proved again that these types of non-stop mass foundations can be poured successfully in record times. This pour took 56 hours to complete . This prestigious project which is located in HR Rasuna Said business zone has a pouring raft foundation dimension of +/- 3,590 m2 with average depth of 2,7 m. The pour required 6 concrete pumps and the specified rate of 120m3 per hour was far exceeded, as an average of over 160m2 per hour was achieved.

With raw material requirements exceeding 3,500 tonnes of cementitious materials, 6,000 tonnes of sand, 11, 000 tonnes of crushed stone and a Truck Mixer fleet of 65 to service this mass concrete foundation pour, ensuring effective traffic management and planning was of upmost importance to limit the effect in the surrounding areas.

According to Hans Fuchs, Director of RMX & Aggregates PT Holcim Holcim Indonesia TBK,”From the very beginning, we are committed to continually improving our solution services to our customers in Indonesia. This mass foundation pour shows how we work together with all stakeholders to ensure successful results benefiting all those involved” He continued “support given by various relevant parties like PT Hutama Karya (Persero), the business partner of PTHB who is responsible for this Bakrie Tower project, becomes an added value for us.

In its implementation, this pouring is not an ordinary project because to be successful, we need well-calculated preparation, systematic planning, solid teamwork and commitment for success from all team members”.
