Holcim Offers Opportunity for Investors in the Growing Concrete Market

PT. Holcim Indonesia Tbk. (Holcim Indonesia), through it’s subsidiary PT. Holcim Beton (Holcim Beton), made a breakthrough by offering the first franchise opportunity in the Indonesian concrete market. Today, Holcim Beton signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with one potential investor, , C.V. Alfa Omega from Bandung, West Java, at Menara Jamsostek, Jakarta.

“With this innovation, we are aiming to improve customer satisfaction as well as to strengthen our position in the Indonesian concrete market,” stated Tim Mackay, President Director of Holcim Indonesia. “With the new partners, I’m sure we will be able to penetrate market deeper, and to get closer to our customers, so that we’ll be able to provide better services and ensure our product availability.”
The franchise system is a breakthrough in the Indonesian concrete market, being the first to be offered to the Indonesian investors. Holcim has demonstrated the success of readymix franchise system in Thailand, in which from 77 batching plants of Holcim, 22 is managed by franchisees.
Investors will be able to providing ready mix concrete for customers in their area, with the support of Holcim Beton superior technical know-how, which include computerized batch control and ISO 9001 quality control. So, the ready mix concrete produced by the franchisees will be of the same quality as the concrete produced directly by Holcim Beton.
“We are sure that this franchise will be profitable to the investors,” stated Derek Williamson, the Director of Holcim Beton. “Concrete market in Indonesia has the potentials to significantly increase, as the consumption of bulk cement in Indonesia, which mostly converted into concrete, is relatively low compared to Thailand, a country that have simillar economic condition. The total concrete demand in all Indonesia is up to 22.2 million m3/year.”
Derek continued: “This franchise system is another innovation from Holcim Beton in its effort to strengthen its position in the market. Previously, we have launched the MiniMix, smaller mixer trucks that enable us to reach locations that can not be reached by conventional mixer trucks. In 2008, we have also ensure our market in East Java by acquiring RCI, a readymix company in East Java.”
