Granulated Blastfurnace Slag
Granulated Blastfurnace Slag is the nonmetallic product consisting essentially of aluminosilicates of calcium and other bases that is developed in a molten condition simultaneously with cast iron in a blastfurnace and becomes a glassy granular material when rapidly chilled, as by inmersion in water.

Ground granulated blastfurnace slag can be blended with Portland Cement, or with Portland Cement Clinker to obtain Blended Hydraulic Cements, used for both general and special applications in building and construction.

Blended Slag Cement is a hydraulic cement consisting mostly of an intimate and uniform blend of granulated blastfurnace slag and Portland Cement or Portland Cement Clinker in different proportions according to its final application.

Slag Cement is mainly used for concrete that will be in contact with soils or with waters whose chemical aggressiveness could damage normal Portland Cement.
