Holcim Awards For Sustainable Construction

The Holcim Awards for Sustainable Construction promote innovation in sustainable construction through a series of regional and global competitions. The Awards competition was comprised of five regional Holcim Awards and the global Holcim Awards. Prizes at both levels total USD 2 million.

Five regional competitions are conducted in: Africa Middle East, Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin America and North America. The Holcim Awards are run in cooperation with approximately 60 Holcim Group companies in just as many countries.

The Holcim Awards are held in partnership with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich), Switzerland; the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Boston, USA; Tongji University, Shanghai, China; the University of São Paulo, Brazil and the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), Johannesburg, South Africa. The universities define the evaluation criteria and lead the independent juries.

The juries on regional and on global level include independent experts of international stature engaged in the sustainable development of society, building processes, construction materials, and building projects.

The current cycle closed for submissions in February 2008.
