The global leader in roofing systems, Lafarge Roofing, completed its acquisition of Mexican company Clay Tile Venture Inc. Previously, Lafarge Roofing held a 50% stake in the joint venture company. The current CEO of Clay Tile Venture Inc., Carlos Elias Jr., will continue in his role.

The US market accounts for the majority of Clay Tile Venture's revenues. The company is the USA's fourth largest supplier of clay roof tiles, and the market leader in the premium-quality segment. With this operation, Lafarge Roofing therefore confirms its leading position in the US market.

Clay Tile Venture operates manufacturing facilities at Tecate and Nogales in northwestern Mexico, and employs a total of 160 people. Clay Tile Venture saw strong sales in 2005, and a further strong increase in sales is anticipated in 2006. In response to this sustained demand, a new plant is being built in El Florido, Mexico, which will begin production in October 2006.

Lafarge Roofing is the roofing division of the Lafarge Group. With more than 200 production sites and activities in 45 countries, Lafarge Roofing is the leading global supplier of pitched-roofing products, roof system components and chimney systems.
