Inaugurating a state-of-the-art CILAS cement plant in Biskra, Algeria

On October 17, LafargeHolcim looked to the future of cement production in Algeria at the inauguration of a new cement plant in 400km south of Algiers.

 

The next generation of cement plant

With the goal of becoming the reference point for cement on the south Algerian market, LafargeHolcim inaugurated a new cement plant equipped with cutting-edge machinery on October 17. Born out of a one-off joint venture with Souakri Group, the new CILAS plant has set a range of ambitious targets, grounded in operational excellence, the health and safety of our employees and subcontractors, reduction of our environmental footprint, reduction of our energy consumption by 35 , and of course, bringing the full range of benefits to our clients.

This is the most recent of new LafargeHolcim plants, which boasts a 2.7 million tonnes per year capacity and the latest and best machinery available in the cement industry, including the tallest vertical grinder in the world.
