Investors visit UK super-quarry on Capital Markets Day - and you can too on our virtual tour

Bardon Hill quarry serves as the headquarters of Aggregate Industries and is one of five "super-quarries" we own in the UK. On Capital Markets Day, participants from the financial community get the chance to take an on-site tour led by CEO Jan Jenisch, and the management of LafargeHolcim.

Bardon Hill Quarry has been run by Aggregate Industries for more than 100 years. Such assets are a core part of how LafargeHolcim contributes to major building and infrastructure projects across the country. Every year, in addition to selling 31 million tonnes of aggregates, Aggregate Industries sells 2.3 million tonnes of cement and 2.7 million cubic meters of ready-mix concrete.

Rock on: Where does quarried rock go?

On an annual basis, 31 million tonnes of aggregates are extracted from 37 Aggregate Industries quarries. Daily, that translates to 100 trains of aggregates sent to their main markets. Aggregate Industries’ materials have been used in high-profile building projects all over the UK:

  • Wembley Stadium
  • The Shard
  • The London 2012 Olympic park
  • The Forth Bridge
