Lafarge at Batimat 2003 : Materials and services for building a sustainable future

3 November 2003

Lafarge, world leader in building materials, will be present at Batimat, the world's leading international building exhibition, between November 3 and 8 in Paris. It will have an innovative stand of more than 500 m2, designed by young architects for the first time.

Lafarge will present new products, services and other initiatives which illustrate the Group's commitment to evolution in the building industry and the importance given to the environment in the broadest sense of the term, through sustainable development and research and development. An innovator in its relations with its customers and professional partners and a pioneer in its environmental actions, Lafarge will be displaying new products and services available in France deriving from all its businesses – cement, aggregates & concrete, roofing and gypsum.

Everything the Lafarge Group is presenting is covered by three principal themes:

  • Lafarge, driving change in the building industry
Lafarge is playing a part in the evolution of the building trades. A number of its initiatives, products and services are intended to encourage employment (“Launch your career”, Lafarge Granulats), contribute to the training of building trade professionals (sponsorship of the National Skills Competition, Lafarge Ciments), promote skills (creation of the “Toituriers de France” network by Lafarge Couverture and the “Prégypro” network by Lafarge Plâtres), support performance (provision of innovative tools such as the website, intended for specifiers, and the website, for craftsmen and contractors, by Lafarge Group) and improve working conditions (roofing membrane unwinder, Lafarge Couverture, and Agilia® concrete, Lafarge Bétons, which make work less arduous and optimizes both site organization and workers' safety).
  • Lafarge, at the heart of sustainable development
Lafarge stongly believes that durable growth entails strong performance on economic, social and environmental issues. It has created new forms of relations and dialogue with civil society, notably through partnerships and actions engaged alongside NGOs. In addition, Lafarge has made commitments in each of its Business Units at the level of its manufacturing processes (reduction of CO2 emissions in French cement plants, Lafarge Ciments), the application of its products (limitation of nuisance factors linked to construction sites thanks to self-placing Agilia® concrete, Lafarge Bétons), its products and services themselves (anti-storm roofing systems, Lafarge Couverture) and the recyclability of materials (100% recyclable Prégimax 32TM plasterboard, Lafarge Plâtres).
  • Lafarge, innovating to create value
As a global player established on a local basis, Lafarge is able to bring the best technology available anywhere in the world to its local customers. This overall vision, which has no equivalent in the world in the building materials sector, gives Lafarge a major competitive edge. Lafarge offers industry professionals numerous innovative products and services, such as ultra high-strength concrete (Ductal®, Lafarge Ciments) and self-placing concrete (Agilia®, Lafarge Bétons), original forms of aggregates (ranges of sand for golf courses and synthetic grass, Lafarge Granulats), roof tiles in original colors (the “Les Contemporaines” collection, Lafarge Couverture), and new generation roofing components (Profilo, the first self-supporting valley rafter on the market, Lafarge Couverture).

Location of Lafarge stand at Batimat: Parc des Expositions (Porte de Versailles exhibition center): Hall 1 - Aisle K Stand 50.
