ORIS, FIRST DIGITAL MATERIAL PLATFORM FOR SUSTAINABLE ROAD CONSTRUCTION, TO BECOME A DEDICATED ENTITY

Holcim announces the creation of ORIS, the first digital material platform for sustainable road construction, as an independent entity.

ORIS is 100% owned by Holcim and will have a strictly dedicated team. Its activities will be ring-fenced from the rest of Holcim to ensure the neutrality of its services.

As a dedicated commercial entity, ORIS can enjoy total freedom in fast-tracking its approach to building more with less. I am confident that ORIS will become an influential voice in changing the business model of road-building to make this essential infrastructure segment more sustainable.

Magali Anderson| CHIEF SUSTAINABILITY AND INNOVATION OFFICER

Incubated by the Holcim Innovation Center in partnership with IBM, ORIS allows road decision-makers to take a data-driven approach to road design and material sourcing. With 25% of all building materials consumed by road construction, digitalization and optimization is an essential lever for responsible material consumption. ORIS can reduce roads’ environmental footprint by up to 50% and costs by up to 15% while increasing durability.

The Solar Impulse Foundation named ORIS among its first 1,000 solutions to receive an Efficient Solutions label, a designation which highlights solutions that can protect the environment in a profitable way. ORIS was also recently among the Top 10 finalists of the 2021 InfraChallenge organized by the Global Infrastructure Hub and the G20.

ORIS will be managed independently, with Nicolas Miravalls as Chief Executive Officer and Renaud de Montaignac as Chief Operating Officer. Magali Anderson, Holcim Chief Sustainability and Innovation Officer, will be President of the Board. Susanna Zammataro, General Director of the International Road Federation will be the first independent board member.
