Cost and time savings with our concrete at mines in Ontario

3 January 2010

Over 24 years ago, construction on the horizontal shaft of the Barrick Gold - Williams & David Bell mines in Hemio, Ontario began. The project required 40,000 m3 of our Wet Shotcrete concrete with steel fiber, which was delivered via a 1,300-meter borehole. It was also used for side activities such as ramps, haulage passages, shaft stations, etc. LafargeHolcim set up a portable plant on site that contributed significant cost and time savings to the project.
