Holcim collaborates with Climate Earth to expand automation of Environmental Product Declarations
- Independent, verified measure of product’s environmental impact provides transparency needed to drive sustainable construction
- Agreement will enable Holcim to provide environmental data for all ready-mix and cement products in Europe
- Automatic Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) generators deployed at nearly 200 plants in 14 countries in just three years
Holcim has signed a commercial agreement with Climate Earth to expand Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) automation across its business in Europe, reducing the time it takes to generate such third-party verified documents from weeks to minutes. The agreement builds on the successful deployment of Climate Earth’s automatic EPD generator at nearly 200 Holcim cement and ready-mix plants across 14 countries in just three years.
EPDs are independently verified documents that communicate a product’s environmental impact, with indicators ranging from carbon footprint to waste generation. They give construction industry specifiers full visibility on sustainable building solutions, facilitating regulatory compliance, market adoption and green building certifications.
Ram Muthu, Head of Operational Excellence, Holcim: "Our groundbreaking collaboration with Climate Earth will enable Holcim to provide verified environmental data for all our European ready-mix and cement products. It will enable us to meet EU regulatory requirements ahead of the introduction of Digital Product Passports for cement from 2028, and help our customers to differentiate their use of Holcim's sustainable offering."
By integrating this technology, Holcim is transforming the way it measures and reports environmental impact, with this shift to real-time data allowing Holcim to meet market demand and regulatory requirements with unprecedented speed.
This agreement supports Holcim’s NextGen Growth 2030 strategy by leveraging digitalization to position the company as the leading partner for sustainable construction. By automating EPDs, Holcim provides the immediate, third-party verified transparency that customers need to choose sustainable brands such as ECOPact and ECOPlanet for their projects.
