Lafarge divests German company Braas Flachdachsysteme GmbH

2 July 1999

Lafarge Braas Roofing, the Roofing division of the Lafarge Group, has divested the company Braas Flachdachsysteme GmbH to Alwitra. Through this disposal, Lafarge Braas Roofing is parting with its flat roofing activities so as to concentrate on its core businesses: concrete and clay roof tiles, roofing accessories and chimney systems.

With over forty years' tradition in the flat-roofing membrane production sector as well as in flat-roofing accessories, Braas Flachdachsysteme GmbH holds leading positions in such countries as Germany, France, Poland, the Czech Republic and Belgium. The company operates two plants, located in Hemsbach and Mannheim, and generated sales in 1998 of almost FRF 470 million (over 70 million euros).

World leader in roofing materials and chimney systems, Lafarge Braas Roofing employs 12,000 people throughout the world on 200 sites. In 1998, the Lafarge Group Roofing division recorded sales of FRF 10.3 billion (1.6 billion euros).
