Holcim receives CDP Europe Award for climate and water leadership

  • Recognition follows Holcim’s double “A” ranking for climate and water security management
  • First company in its sector to achieve double “A” and one of 15 companies in Europe
  • Award confirms Holcim's progress to decarbonize building

CDP recognized Holcim’s sustainability leadership with an award for a double “A” ranking in climate and water management at the 2023 CDP Europe Awards held in Paris, France on 16 February, 2023. Holcim is the first in its sector and one of 15 companies in Europe to achieve a double “A” CDP score, out of 15,000 companies scored globally.

Magali Anderson, Chief Sustainability and Innovation Officer: “This award is a testament to the progress our teams around the world are making to build a net-zero future, while protecting and restoring precious freshwater resources. 2022 marks the third consecutive year that our climate actions have put us on CDP’s A List, and our first “A” ranking for our work on water security. I am confident we will keep the momentum going in years to come.”

At the event, Anderson spoke on the panel “Transform the norm on climate: how serious 1.5°C transition plans should look.” The discussion was moderated by Euronews and featured speakers included European Securities and Markets Authority Chair Verena Ross and Mayor of Porto Rui Moreira.

Holcim has achieved world-class performance in climate change and water security by putting sustainability at the core of its strategy. In 2022, Holcim upgraded its 2030 climate targets to be 1.5°C-aligned, as validated by the Science Based Target initiative. As part of its nature strategy, Holcim is committed to replenishing fresh water in water-risk areas by 2030, with measurable goals including 75% of these sites to be water-positive and 100% to be equipped with water recycling systems.

CDP Europe Awards is one of the most anticipated environmental events of the year. This year brought together Europe’s environmental leaders - the companies and cities who earned a place on the prestigious A List - under the theme “Transform the Norm.”

CDP’s annual environmental disclosure and scoring process is widely recognized as the gold standard of corporate environmental transparency. The full methodology and criteria for the A List is available on CDP’s website at: https://www.cdp.net/en/companies/companies-scores.
