Holcim enters global partnership with Build Change to advance resilient housing
- Global partnership to contribute to community development and reach 10,000 homeowners
- Education and provision of Holcim’s building materials to enable construction and retrofit of homes to improve living standards
- Initial project in Guatemala to build 10 resilient homes
Holcim has entered a global partnership with Build Change, a leader in systems change for resilient housing, to enable the construction of safe and resilient homes, and improve living standards for communities worldwide. The partnership, which aims to reach 10,000 people, will raise public awareness through a campaign focused on resilient housing; provide a resilient housing catalogue and safe construction manual to equip individuals building or retrofitting homes; and develop resilient housing projects that can be scaled up across countries and regions.
The first project is being carried out in Guatemala, a country prone to earthquakes where there is a deficit of resilient housing. The project entails retrofitting 10 homes enabled by products and technical assistance from Holcim’s Disensa network, the largest construction materials retail franchise in Latin America.
Carmen Díaz, Chief People and Sustainability Officer, Holcim: “Our global partnership with Build Change brings together Holcim’s innovation and purpose – delivering safer, more resilient homes to communities who need them most.”
