KRISH PATEL
Plant Manager at Tilbury Cement Works

Krish Patel took on responsibility from an early age, entering the workforce at just 16. Having lost his father the year before, those early experiences shaped his resilience, perspective and approach to leadership. More than 15 years later, those qualities are central to his people-first approach as Plant Manager of Holcim’s state-of-the-art Tilbury Cement Works in the UK.

A cornerstone of Holcim’s People strategy is a commitment to nurturing talent at all levels. Providing growth opportunities and developing NextGen leaders like Krish - who live the “3 Ps” of the Holcim Spirit - Purpose, People, Performance - is central to creating the best workplace.

With exciting trends like the shift towards lower-carbon cementitious products, electrified equipment, and smart and automated use of operational data changing our industry, Krish is helping Tilbury make its operations safer, more efficient and sustainable.

By leading Tilbury Cement Works from construction into operations, Krish is not only contributing to establishing a cement plant that represents a benchmark for the industry.

He is also creating a working culture of the highest standards, with a team of people who support and challenge each other to improve every day, connected by Holcim’s shared purpose: being the leading partner for sustainable construction.

“Holcim gives people the opportunity to take on meaningful responsibility, work on major projects and develop quickly through practical experience and support,” Krish says.

To help him channel his natural leadership skills, Krish was nominated to complete Holcim University’s Emerging Leaders program in 2026.

As part of a comprehensive learning ecosystem designed to build strong succession pipelines and drive continuous learning, the program helped Krish refine his leadership style, which is rooted in resilience and empathy.

Ensuring a culture of empathy, collaboration and performance

He says that “managing people is so much more complex than managing machines”, and is committed to ensuring a culture of empathy, collaboration, and the highest performance standards.

“My focus is on giving people clarity, ownership, and real development opportunities, so they can grow with the site and become the next generation of operational leaders.”

Even outside of work, Krish naturally gravitates towards events and activities that bring people together, like playing a game of cricket, getting involved in charity events, or organizing a good barbecue with family and friends.

Leadership, patience and perspective beyond the workplace

“I have two young daughters, so while my days can be very focused on a demanding heavy-industry environment, evenings and weekends are usually centered around princesses, unicorns, and butterflies!” Krish says.

“It’s a good reminder that leadership, patience, and perspective matter just as much at home as they do at work.”

For Krish, success isn’t just measured by outputs, but in the pride and care he and his team feel every day. He represents Holcim’s new generation of “Builders of Progress” who prove that our high-performance culture is built on a foundation of collaboration, connection, and support.
