RECORD RESULTS IN 2023, ACHIEVING STRATEGY 2025 AHEAD OF PLAN 

 

In 2023, Holcim delivered record results, achieving our Strategy 2025 two years ahead of plan while growing in the most attractive markets and leading in sustainability.

  • Full-year net sales of CHF 27,009m, recurring EBIT of CHF 4,760m and industry-leading recurring EBIT margin of 17.6% 
  • Free cash flow after leases of CHF 3,705m 
  • Earnings per share1 up 9% to CHF 5.42 
  • Proposed 12% increase in dividend to CHF 2.80 per share 
  • New share buyback of CHF 1 bn in 2024 
  • Strong 2024 outlook

CLIMATE REPORT 2023 

 

Since sustainability is inseparable from Holcim’s business activities, the company integrated its third Climate Report within its Annual Report for the first time, based on the company’s commitment to transparency and environmental responsibility. 

Highlights from the report include: 

  • 20% reduction in CO2/net sales
  • +24% recycling of construction demolition materials (CDM)3 reaching 8.4m tons 
  • 6 CCUS projects in execution 
  • 5m tons of CO2/annum expected to be captured by 2030

BOARD OF DIRECTORS CHANGES 

 

Holcim will propose Catrin Hinkel, Chief Executive Officer of Microsoft Switzerland, for election to its Board of Directors at the Annual General Meeting 2024. She will stand for election alongside nominee Michael H. McGarry, formerly Chairman and Chief Executive of PPG Industries. All other members are standing for re-election. Jan Jenisch is proposed for re-election as Chairman of the Board.

Catrin Hinkel
 

Catrin Hinkel has served as CEO of Microsoft Switzerland since May 2021. 

With more than 25 years’ experience in the tech industry across a variety of organizations and diverse cultures, she previously held leadership roles at Accenture, most recently as Senior Managing Director, Europe Cloud First Strategy & Consulting Lead.

Michael H. McGarry
 

Michael H. McGarry is a highly-accomplished global business leader who most recently served as Executive Chairman of PPG Industries in 2023, and as Chairman and CEO from 2016 to 2022. 

During his tenure, PPG Industries led a successful portfolio transformation to become one of the world’s largest specialty coatings companies, with net sales of $18.2 billion in 2023.
