ENABLING SUSTAINABLE HOUSING IN THE HEART OF CÓRDOBA

In the heart of Córdoba, Argentina a major project is being built with Holcim’s ECOPact concrete that meets the need for sustainable urban housing.

With growing populations and urbanization across the world, many countries face a housing shortfall and Argentina is no exception – lacking an estimated 1.5 million homes. This is where Holcim comes in – offering our customers a broad range of sustainable building solutions at scale to bridge the global housing gap.

To build Cardinales Cofico in the city’s historic Cofico neighborhood, Holcim Argentina partnered with the developer GNI Desarrollos – contributing technology, experience, and sustainable solutions that align with the developer's vision for the project: more efficient, more innovative, and with a reduced environmental impact.

Modernizing while respecting history

For GNI Desarrollos, population growth in Córdoba and the need for modern housing presented a challenge: how to increase residential density and workspaces while respecting the city’s history? The answer had to be a comprehensive project, capable of balancing modernity and tradition, with sustainability and innovation top of mind for the future residents.

Cardinales Cofico, a new mixed-use real estate landmark in Argentina’s second largest city, not only responds to the city's growing housing demand but has also become a model of how innovation in materials and construction processes can transform urban spaces.

ECOPact meets project’s technical and sustainability requirements

Cardinales Cofico was designed to be a complete urban hub, where residences, workspaces, shops, and recreational areas coexist. To bring this vision to life, Holcim partnered with GNI, providing high-performance products, optimizing timelines, and ensuring the project's quality and efficiency.

The incorporation of 17,723 m3 of ECOPact, Holcim's low-carbon concrete formulated according to the project's technical requirements, reduced CO2 emissions by more than 30% compared to conventional concrete, representing over 2,000 tons of CO2 avoided during the construction process.

With over 500 apartments, 514 parking spaces, 6,000 m2 of retail and office space, and a range of premium amenities, Cardinales Cofico brings dynamism, services, and new economic opportunities to the community.
