Building an urban forest in France

Projects like “Edge of an Urban Forest“ reduce the heat island effect while absorbing CO2 at the same time. The combination of trees and Hydromedia is transforming this urban area in Aubervilliers, France, into a new and enjoyable space for residents.

In this project our permeable concrete Hydromedia played a major role as it helps collect and preserve rainwater, recreating the natural water cycle that sustains the trees in the urban forest. Edge of an Urban Forest is supported by “Lafarge 360”, the initiative launched by Holcim France to help customers build low-carbon projects. A score associated with each product helps the builder assess the environmental impact of the project and steer towards solutions with a lower environmental impact.
